The favorite and celebrated Raisin Bread of Baguio Country Club has a long history dating back to 1956. This old home recipe was introduced by Ms. Kate Reed to a group of members who were wishing for something to eat while enjoying their coffee at the Veranda, which eventually became a preferred “merienda” staple.
Over the years, its quality and unique taste made this bread a classical FLAGSHIP product of Baguio Country Club that keeps patrons craving for it. A visit to Baguio Country Club is never complete without dropping by the Kate Reed’s Pastry Shop to order Raisin Bread for a snack, for take home or for a gift.
Ms. Kate Reed was the first lady General Manager of Baguio Country Club from 1956 to 1968 with an impressive background of experience in hotel management and service. She managed The Convention Floor at the Aster Hotel in New York, Manager of Remount Dude Ranch at Cheyenne, Wyoming, and held similar position at a hotel in Palm Spring California, before coming to the Philippines. She was married to one of the original members of Baguio Country Club, Mr. Ralph Crosby.
The Kate Reed’s Pastry Shop produces other bakery items, such as Banana Bread (which has also gained popularity next to the Raisin Bread) Carrot Bread and other assorted breads, cakes, pies, sandwiches, chocolates, jams and spreads. Production requires 24/7 operation to preserve freshness and meet the escalating demands.
